eLTER SPF webinar: eLTSER Platforms

At the last SPF Forum in October 2023, a Working Group on Long-Term Socio-Ecological Research (LTSER) was established.

With this webinar, we launch a series of activities to present and discuss the developments of LTSER within eLTER and eLTSER platforms hosting place-based socio-ecological research. The LTSER network emerged as a bottom-up process, which in the meantime led to a clear definition of the category of eLTSER platforms (in parallel to the eLTER sites) as a multi-level place-based research infrastructure in Europe. eLTSER platforms represent clusters of eLTER sites and support socio-ecological inter- and transdisciplinary research with data, knowledge and contacts in the regions. The components of eLTSER platforms include physical infrastructure (museums, visitor centres, etc.), actors and stakeholders, research activities, and coordination and management. The definition of these components depends on the landscape, habitat types and administrative structures of each region.

This webinar will give you an overview of the different eLTER site categories in contrast to the category of eLTSER platforms. In addition, we will present some examples of social-ecological research questions, methods and results. There will also be time allocated for asking questions.
