They are are looking for a Scientific Coordinator to join CSC's Digital Twin Technologies (DTT) group. The Scientific Coordinator will lead the project management office of the Horizon Europe Biodiversity Digital Twin (BioDT) project (https://biodt.eu), which is coordinated by CSC and is set to continue until May 2025. The project aims to push the current boundaries of predictive understanding of biodiversity dynamics by developing a Biodiversity Digital Twin platform providing advanced modelling, simulation and prediction capabilities. By exploiting in new ways existing technologies and data available across relevant research infrastructures, the project develops up to 10 prototype digital twins that can be used to more accurately model interactions between species and their environment.

Job requirements

The main tasks of the position include steering and day-to-day management of the consortium as part of the BioDT Project Management Office, with a focus on ensuring the successful and timely completion of the project. You will receive support from CSC's Project Acquisition and Development (PAD) group and financial administration. You will work closely together with external project partners and particularly Work Package Leads, taking responsibility for the high-level scientific direction of the project. In addition, the role involves serving as a contact point between the consortium and the EC Project Officer assigned to the project. Further to the management of the BioDT, the position includes planning and preparation of future funding proposals within the fields of biodiversity, Earth system research and digital twin technologies. 

Key competences required for the position include:

- Demonstrated project management experience, organizational and time-management skills

- A scientific background in a related field, such as ecology, modelling, or scientific computing  

- Practical know-how of working as part of large international R&D teams, e.g. project consortia

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including interaction with academic researchers from different fields

- Experience of collaborating with external stakeholders and interest groups

- Experience of grant proposal and/or bid preparation
